Carlton Fields is seeking a Conflicts Attorney. This position can be based in Miami, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa or West Palm Beach. The Conflicts Attorney reports to the Director of New Business Intake (“Director”) and works closely with the Ethics Counsel and General Counsel to identify and resolve conflicts of interest, whether arising because of new business intake or incoming lateral attorneys.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Analyze conflict search reports for new business intake and incoming lateral attorneys Draft conflict waivers Work with Ethics Counsel on lateral hiring process, including conflict review and clearance for lateral hires Assist with supervision of conflicts analysts and work with conflicts staff Review outside counsel guidelines Draft memos establishing ethical screens Provide support in such other areas as the Director and Ethics Counsel deem appropriate
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in the United States required Three years of legal experience within a law firm Willingness to devote most of the business day to review conflicts of interest database search reports to clear new employments for acceptance or to identify and help resolve conflicts of interest Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; must be able to articulate issues accurately, clearly and succinctly Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities needed to address complex questions and issues Must have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented; issue-tracking, follow-up and resolution skills are essential Must maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Actual salaries will vary depending upon various factors, including relevant experience and skillset.
