Staff Attorney Small Claims Litigation 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars West Miami, FL A mission-driven non-profit organization is seeking a dedicated Staff Attorney to join its legal team and take the lead on small claims matters . This role is ideal for an attorney passionate about community advocacy, access to justice, and direct client impact. The position is onsite and offers meaningful litigation experience in a supportive, purpose-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

Represent clients in small claims court proceedings , including preparation, negotiation, and trial Evaluate case merit, conduct legal research, and draft pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements Work closely with program staff and community outreach teams to identify legal issues affecting underserved populations Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable laws Participate in legal clinics, community workshops, and education initiatives as needed

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in FL 1-3 years of litigation experience preferred, particularly in small claims or general civil matters Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills Commitment to public interest work and serving low-income or marginalized communities
