What You Will Be Doing:

As a Tax Associate , you will play an integral role in advising clients on a broad range of tax matters, including U.S. federal income tax, international tax, and state and local tax planning. You will support complex transactional work and tax controversy matters, and your responsibilities will include:

Tax Planning & Advisory:

Advise clients on U.S. federal income tax , international tax , and state and local tax matters. This includes providing strategic tax advice and solutions to clients in various industries.

Mergers & Acquisitions:

Assist in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions , ensuring tax efficiency and compliance in complex transactions.

Investment Fund Formation & Real Estate Transactions:

Provide support for investment fund formation and real estate transactions , preparing related documents and filings.

Tax Controversy & Disputes:

Engage in tax controversy matters, including voluntary disclosures , audits , appeals , litigation , and collections with various authorities such as the IRS , Tax Court , Department of Justice (Tax Division) , and state tax agencies.

Research & Analysis:

Conduct complex legal research , draft memoranda , and prepare other supporting materials to assist in case strategy.

Collaborative Work:

Work alongside attorneys, paralegals, and staff across multiple offices, ensuring effective teamwork and high-quality client service.

What You Will Bring:

Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school. Admission to the New York bar (or Florida, Georgia, or Illinois, depending on office location). 2 to 3 years of experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or government tax practice, specifically in tax planning and tax controversy matters. Strong academic performance , demonstrating a foundation of knowledge in tax law. LL.M. in Taxation preferred, but not required. Demonstrated interest and/or experience in corporate tax planning , real estate tax transactions , and international tax compliance . Experience or interest in handling tax controversies , including administrative and litigation proceedings. Familiarity with cross-border tax structures and international tax compliance matters. Excellent research , writing , and verbal communication skills . Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating efficiently with attorneys, paralegals, and staff across different offices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Interest and/or exposure to a broad range of tax matters , including U.S. federal income , international , and state/local tax planning . Exposure to domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and related tax issues. Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and apply complex tax laws. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
