OVERVIEW
A & Associates, Inc. (A&A) is a national workforce solutions provider delivering temporary staffing, security services, and project-based personnel to private clients, major event venues, government agencies, and public infrastructure partners. As our Florida operations continue to expand, we are hiring an In-House Counsel to serve as our primary legal representative for matters originating in the state, with a specific focus on claims, litigation coordination, risk management, and contract advisory work related to staffing and security services. This is not a trial litigation role. Instead, the In-House Counsel will serve as our internal legal executive for Florida, managing legal exposure, coordinating with outside counsel, and participating in hearings or mediations when needed. The ideal candidate will have strong legal judgment, solid litigation awareness, and the ability to oversee high-volume matters across employment, security operations, negligence, and contractual risk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position is focused on managing Florida-based legal matters and supporting the organization’s operational readiness. While outside counsel leads litigation, the In-House Counsel ensures accurate internal coordination, risk response, and legal strategy alignment.
CLAIMS AND LITIGATION
OVERSIGHTOversee all active litigation, pre-litigation claims, and legal demands arising in FloridaCoordinate internal responses to employment law matters, including FLSA claims, unpaid wage allegations, and workplace disputesReview and support strategies for negligence claims involving security staff, event services, or jobsite incidentsRespond to tenders of defense and interpret indemnity clauses in subcontractor, staffing, or client agreementsAct as the main liaison with insurance carriers and external legal counsel for litigation managementMaintain detailed summaries of legal matters, identify liability risks, and develop internal documentation to support defenseAssist with discovery, fact-finding, and internal coordination during legal proceedings
COURT APPEARANCES AND LEGAL
REPRESENTATIONRepresent A&A at administrative hearings, pre-trial proceedings, and mediations when appropriatePrepare and support staff members or executives who may be required to give statements, testimony, or declarationsParticipate in resolution discussions or legal conferences when requested by counsel or the executive team
OPERATIONAL RISK AND CONTRACT
SUPPORTProvide internal counsel on legal risks, incident documentation, and case preparation workflowsReview contract terms and flag issues in service agreements, subcontractor MOUs, and staffing arrangementsCollaborate with Operations, HR, Payroll, and Risk teams to validate documentation, collect supporting materials, and align on case strategiesMaintain organized legal files for pleadings, settlement documents, indemnification tracking, and hearing calendars
INTERNAL LEGAL
INFRASTRUCTUREMaintain a master legal calendar of Florida cases, court appearances, deadlines, and internal milestonesDeliver regular updates to executive leadership with recommendations for legal strategy or operational changesDraft internal memoranda, legal correspondence, and factual statements in support of case files or outside counselDevelop internal protocols and response checklists to improve readiness and mitigate future exposure
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolLicensed and in good standing with the Florida Bar1â3 years of experience in labor and employment law, commercial liability, or related fieldsAbility to appear in Florida courts for pre-trial and administrative mattersStrong writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to operational teamsCapable of managing multiple legal matters with consistency, urgency, and accuracy
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In-house or consulting experience supporting labor-heavy industries such as staffing, events, or facility servicesStrong knowledge of FLSA, indemnity enforcement, injury-related liability claims, and defense coordinationExperience interpreting and enforcing subcontractor agreements, especially with public or municipal clientsFamiliarity with claims involving injuries at construction sites, public venues, or security assignmentsPrior handling of government contracts and understanding of insurance requirements, claim filings, and indemnification obligationsExperience coordinating sworn testimony, fact-gathering, and internal investigationsUnderstanding of HR and operational workflows for documenting employment and incident data
COMPENSATION
