Responsibilities:

Meet with potential clients to understand their legal issues within a specific area of law and determine if they qualify for our services.
Provide clients with the right kind of legal help, which could be advice, a referral to another resource, or direct legal representation.
Participate in community outreach activities.
Represent clients in court and at government agencies, as needed.
Keep accurate records of client interactions and case information as required.
Attend meetings to discuss which cases the organization will take on. …
Participate in training to stay updated on legal knowledge and meet professional requirements.
Maintain office hours, demonstrate a exceptional work ethic and good time management. Communicate respectfully with clients and colleagues, and offer helpful feedback on cases.
Act as a positive example for support staff by valuing hard work, quality legal work, and respectful interactions.
Help ensure our local office is accessible to all clients, including those in rural areas, non-English speakers, and people with disabilities.
Build positive relationships with the public, including client groups, service providers, the media, and private attorneys, by attending or speaking at local meetings as approved.
Learn and follow the organization’s policies and the rules of our funding sources.
Use a system to track and review cases as necessary.

Working hours:

8:00 PM – 5:00

PM Skills:

Knowledge of CMS a plus.
Bilingual English and Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred but not required.

Education:
Bachelors Experience:

1-4 years

Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
Barred in Florida.
Knowledge of State and Federal court procedures preferred.
Some knowledge of the legal system, and compassion for the clients.
Ability to forge positive relationships with prospects and colleagues.
Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively, yet independently.
Must be able to effectively and efficiently maximize existing resources.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Must be able to effectively work in high-pressure situations which involve deadlines.
