General:
The Paralegal will work closely with partners and associates to support the firm’s clients in a manner that is consistent with our core values and vision. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of Georgia Family Law experience along with attention to detail, strong organizational and drafting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal. The paralegal position will also consider headstrong, determined, willing to learn candidates who demonstrate great skills in writing, reading, and the ability to multitask efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and court orders for review, approval, and use by attorney.
Correspond with clients and prepare spreadsheets and documents.
File pleadings, familiarity with e-filing proceedures.
Coordinate delivery of subpoenas to witnesses and parties to action.
Conduct intake calls with potential new clients and prepare attorneys for initial consultation.
Assist attorneys in preparing for mediations, depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
Assist attorneys in analyzing and resolving recurring problems that arise in family law cases.
Draft discovery requests, calendar relevant due dates, and prepare correspondence to opposing counsels and/or opposing parties.
Assist clients to comply with discovery requests and compile requested documents.
Job requirements:
Undergraduate degree preferred but not required
Paralegal certificate or certification preferred but not required
2+ years of Georgia Family Law experience preferred, but not required. Strong willed, determined, and willing to learn also must apply
Solid understanding of Illinois law and the Rules of Civil Procedure
Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, with superior attention to detail
Excellent prioritization, problem solving and time management skills
Ability to learn and utilize new software, technology and techniques as needed to meet the changing demands of the legal marketplace
Creativity, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment
Smokeball familiarity a very big plus
Compensation:
Competitive compensation package including a market-competitive base salary commensurate with experience, medical and PTO.
