DESCRIPTIONThe Legal Counsel position is the lifeblood and future of the Elekta Legal Department. The Legal Counsel will be involved in many practice areas within Elekta, with this specific hire being focused on Elektas Mexican, Central American and South American sales regions. The position provides legal advice and counsel throughout the organization on various matters in support of the overall legal strategy developed by the Elektas General Counsel and global Legal Management Team. The Legal Counsel is the Elekta Legal Departments entry-level in-house legal position, but the successful candidate will have a well-rounded legal background prior to joining Elekta and will be ready, with oversight where necessary, to provide sound legal advice and take on a variety of challenges within Elekta. The Legal Counsels responsibilities will increase with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary assignment supporting Elektas Mexican, Central American and South American sales regions.
Works closely with all attorneys in the legal group and be part of a dedicated, productive, high quality, and high energy international legal teamActs at all times with a focus on ethics and integrityIncorporates Elekta Values and quality systems into all department functions and responsibilitiesActively participates in the Elekta Legal Departments global forumsResponsible for advising assigned clients with regard to any and all other legal issuesReviews, draft and negotiates contracts related to, among other things, hardware sales, software licensing, hardware and software development and professional servicesSupports the Elektas management, sales and contracts administration teams and take responsibility for providing legal advice for any and all other legal issues arising within the assigned geographyCounsels business partners on a variety of business law issuesDrafts and negotiates vendor and licensing arrangements, review of marketing initiatives, responses to litigation, and advising on various legal mattersPerforms other related duties as assigned or requested by senior management.
Develops and provides training to business clients
RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND
COMPETENCIESPreference for graduate from a top-tier law school with strong academic credentialsMember, in good standing, of local bar association (or local equivalent)Preference for at least 3 years relevant legal experience, including experience at a top-tier law firm.
Fluency in English and Spanish.
Excellent interpersonal skillsExceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and efficientStrong sense of ethics, integrity, and sound judgementMust have an attitude that no job is too big or too small, must be client/customer focused, and must accept responsibility for and own outcomesMust be able to strike sensible and practical balance between legal risks and the need to do businessAdept at working in a fast-paced, high activity environment with smart and creative peopleMust work well with all functions and at all levels within ElektaExcellent problem-solving skills. Broad knowledge of general business, contract, and commercial law.
Litigation experience is a plu Knowledge of the Medical Device Industry, including Regulatory knowledge (FDA, MDR, etc.) is a plusSound and relatively broad knowledge of general business and commercial, contract, and commercial law

Work Location/Flexibility:
This position is based out of Elektas Atlanta office and is a hybrid position (at-least 3 days in office, remaining days from home office). Preference for more days in office during the first six months for onboarding and networking purposes.
