This position is ideal for someone who ispassionate about the oil and gas industry and has a keen interestin the legal aspects related to it. The successful candidate willbe responsible for providing legal support in the areas of oil andgas title examination, due diligence, and other related matters.
Responsibilities:
Conduct and oversee comprehensive titleexaminations, including analysis of surface and mineral ownership.
Prepare and review title opinions, curative documents, and otherlegal instruments related to oil and gas operations. Conduct duediligence reviews in connection with oil and gas acquisitions anddivestitures. Provide legal advice and support to business units ona wide range of oil and gas matters, including leasing, drilling,and production operations. Negotiate, draft, and review oil and gasleases, contracts, and agreements. Collaborate with otherattorneys, landmen, and business units to resolve title defects andother issues. Stay current on legal developments in the oil and gasindustry and provide training and guidance to business units asneeded. Represent the company in legal proceedings related to oiland gas matters, if necessary.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctoratedegree from an accredited law school. A minimum of 3 years ofexperience as an Oil & Gas Title Attorney. Licensed to practice lawin the state of Louisiana. Extensive experience in conducting titleexaminations and preparing title opinions. Strong knowledge of oiland gas law, including leasing, drilling, and productionoperations. Proven experience in conducting due diligence reviewsin connection with oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures.
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and contract review skills. Stronganalytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectivelyin a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Proficient in the use oflegal research tools and other relevant software applications.
