Our practice focuses on maritime personal injury cases, however we also handle motor vehicle accidents and premises liability cases.
Position Overview:
We are actively seeking a Personal Injury Attorney with a strong foundation in maritime law to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling both traditional personal injury claims and maritime cases. You’ll manage a full caseload, interact directly with clients, and be involved in all stages of litigation — from intake to resolution. This position also presents unique entrepreneurial potential. Key Responsibilities:
Manage and litigate a mix of personal injury and maritime injury cases. Handle case intake, investigation, and legal analysis specific to both land-based and maritime claims. Draft and file pleadings, motions, and discovery documents. Conduct depositions, negotiate settlements, and argue motions. Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings (state and federal). Provide legal guidance under statutes like the Jones Act, General Maritime Law, and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA). Work collaboratively with legal assistants, paralegals, and fellow attorneys. Collaborate closely with support staff and fellow attorneys to develop case strategy and ensure the best outcomes for clients. Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills. Ability to handle a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision. Trial experience strongly preferred (first-chair or significant second-chair experience a plus).
Required Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in Louisiana and in good standing. 5+ years of experience in personal injury litigation. Demonstrated experience with maritime law cases (e.g., offshore injuries, vessel accidents, longshore claims). Strong understanding of relevant statutes and procedural rules, including maritime law. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Trial experience in both state and federal courts. Experience handling wrongful death or catastrophic injury maritime cases. Familiarity with the case management software Filevine.
