Position Entry-Level Title Attorney Summary The entry level Title Attorney will work as a collaborative member of the CivicSource legal team and with other members of CivicSource to facilitate the sale of adjudicated properties, and as otherwise required to facilitate various research projects.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Conduct title exams of Louisiana adjudicated properties – Review title abstracts to determine current interests in a subject property with the overall mindset of facilitating the Louisiana adjudicated property sale;
- Confirm the geographical location of subject properties according to the title and local assessor’s websites;
- Solve complex title and assessment issues by collaborating with other members of the legal team, external insurability experts, and local government officials such as tax assessors, clerks of court, and sheriff’s offices;
- Communicate to investors any discovered changes to the property they invested in discovered during the title exam process which may negatively affect their reasonable expectations to ensure continued interest, such as mapping changes or price increases;
- Draft title opinions to form as basis for title insurance;
- Input data into CivicSource’s internal data organizer;
- Outsource title exams on an as-needed basis;
- Audit the inflow and outflow of accounts in the title exam queue;
- Additional duties as assigned. Key Qualifications The successful candidate should possess these skills:
- JD degree from an ABA accredited law school (required)
- Licensed to practice law in Louisiana (required)
- Licensed title insurance provider in Louisiana (required)
- One or more years of experience in real estate transactions, particularly in the areas of purchases and sales, title and survey.
- Strong customer-facing, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously
