Job Description

At Viridian, we are focused on developing best-in-class medicines for people living with autoimmune and rare diseases. Leveraging our team’s expertise in antibody discovery and engineering, we have created a robust pipeline of differentiated investigational therapeutic candidates for well-validated targets. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this role will be the lead legal advisor to the commercial organization, including commercial operations, market access, and sales and marketing, as well as and other areas of Viridian’s business as needed. You will be a trusted advisor and play a key role in supporting our business, including playing an active role in building a compliant culture, as we build towards commercial launch of our first product and help navigate the legal and compliance complexities of launching innovative therapies. This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week. Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): Serve as lead counsel to commercial organization providing legal guidance across a broad range of initiatives, including product launches, promotional review, patient support programs, field team activities, and others, with an ability to be both strategic as well as tactical depending on the business needs. Review and advise on advertising and promotional materials and communications in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., FDA, FTC, PhRMA Code). Support the development and implementation of policies, training, and monitoring programs, including working closely with our compliance function. Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including commercial supply, vendor services, distribution, speaker programs, sponsorships, and other third-party arrangements. Advise on legal risks and mitigation strategies related to commercial and medical initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally with Compliance, Commercial, Medical, Finance, and other internal teams as needed to support the business. Assist with other legal matters and projects as needed, supporting a collaborative Legal function focused on partnering across the business.

J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 15+ years of relevant legal experience with in-house (biotech/pharma) experience required. Deep understanding of legal and regulatory issues related to commercialization of drugs and biological products, including transparency reporting, drug agencies (e.g., FDA and EMA), and healthcare fraud and abuse laws (e.g., Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act). Experience supporting advertising and promotional review processes and advising on commercial and medical affairs activities. Strong, solutions-oriented contract drafting and negotiation skills with an experience and ability to negotiate commercial contracts preferred. Ability to be a business partner to the commercial team and have the agility to navigate a fast-paced, evolving environment with a focus on execution. Collaborative, humble, and proactive mindset with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and excellent judgement.
