JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Labor Relations Director is responsible for the negotiation and administration of the company’s collective bargaining agreements. Also serves as a resource for store and facility management teams on collective bargaining agreement interpretation and application. This role requires 4 days in office for up to 6 months to learn the role and then will be able to shift to 3 days a week in office and 2 days remote. This role is located in St Louis, Missouri.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Negotiates designated collective bargaining agreements, sometimes autonomously; keeping the Sr. Director Labor Relations advised of progress of negotiations and any potential barriers to the successful negotiations. Prepares proposals during contract negotiations in support of Company goals and operating needs. Administers the collective bargaining agreements with full decision-making authority. Coordinates with relevant departments changes/revisions of newly negotiated collective bargaining agreements, e.g. Payroll, Workday, Operations, etc). Serves as a contact to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and/or company policies. Reviews and provides input into the prepared labor cost projections as necessary to negotiate collective bargaining agreements. Serve as Trustee/Alternate Trustee on Multi-Employer Welfare and Pension Trust Funds as designated. Responds to inquiries of teammates and department managers, advises store and facility management teams and division managers of relevant contract terms, resolves disputes, interprets policies, and ensures compliance with relevant laws in their area of responsibility. Manages grievance/dispute, store and facility teammate discipline and termination termination decisions. Collaborates with the Legal Department on all aspects of the grievance process including mediation and arbitrations as needed. Provides guidance and training on Labor Relations issues to Labor Relations team, HRBP’s, and Operations as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Minimum Years of Experience:
5-8 years labor experience; with 3-5 years of experience independently negotiating labor contracts.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge Advanced collective bargaining agreement negotiation techniques Advanced knowledge of dispute resolution techniques Knowledge of labor budgeting processes Knowledge of multi-employer health and welfare and pension plan concepts and practices Knowledge of NLRA and other applicable laws and regulations Skills & Abilities Ability to quickly learn the company’s collective bargaining agreements and company policies Effective verbal and written communication skills Computer skills. Special emphasis of knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required Problem solving skills and analytical/mathematical skills Advanced relationship building skills Highly organized and has an ability to multitask at a high level
