About the Agency The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available within the Office of Legal Counsel, located at the State Office. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi’s at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance. Second-level Attorney responsible for assisting in the handling of legal matters including cases concerning fraud, federal or state regulations, and state leases and contracts; and implementing state procedures. The work may include analyzing and interpreting state, federal and agency regulations; preparing documents and instruments for administrative and executive decisions and actions; representing the state or agencies in court; and performing legal research and preparing legal briefs. Positions at this level may work under the direction of a higher-level attorney. Attorney II-This New Hire will assist with legal research, policy issues, and drafting legal documents to help with the Field Staff for court hearings. What you’ll need to be Successful Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software, demonstrate integrity, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to adapt quickly, courteous, ability to maintain confidentiality.
