Job Description

Our law firm client is seeking a driven and experienced Associate Attorney to join our Residential Portfolio Management practice. This critical role involves managing a high-volume caseload focused on eviction, code enforcement, and small claims matters, ensuring legal compliance and protecting our clients’ interests. You’ll directly support our institutional clients-such as property managers, landlords, and real estate investors-by efficiently navigating legal proceedings tied to residential property management.

As part of our collaborative legal team, you’ll work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and client service staff to meet performance standards and maintain strong client relationships. This position is essential to upholding our firm’s reputation for responsiveness, legal excellence, and exceptional service, contributing directly to client satisfaction and overall firm success.

What You’ll Do:

Manage a high-volume caseload focused on eviction, code enforcement, and small claims matters.

Prepare and review eviction-related pleadings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Represent clients in court for eviction and related legal proceedings.

Prioritize and manage deadlines for a large caseload, ensuring compliance with client expectations.

Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional client service and support.

Communicate effectively with clients regarding case status and updates.

What We’re Looking For (Non-Negotiable Requirements):

Active Bar Membership in

North Carolina and South Carolina:

You must be a member in good standing of both the NC and SC Bar Associations to practice across our client portfolios.

Juris Doctorate (JD): A law degree from an accredited institution is required.3-5 Years of Experience with

Eviction-Related Pleadings:

Demonstrated prior experience handling eviction matters, including the preparation, review, and court representation.

Ability to Manage and Prioritize a

Large Caseload:

This is a high-volume role that requires excellent organizational and time management skills to stay compliant with deadlines and client expectations.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience with

Code Enforcement and Small Claims Matters:

Familiarity with these related areas will strengthen your ability to handle the full scope of residential portfolio issues.

Mediation and Deposition Experience:

Prior participation in mediations, depositions, and both telephonic and in-person hearings enhances courtroom readiness and negotiation ability.

Strong Client Communication via

Case Management Systems:

Comfort with client systems and platforms can improve efficiency and transparency in client updates and case tracking.

Project Management or Special Projects Experience:

The ability to take on special projects or cross-functional initiatives can add value to the legal team and demonstrate leadership potential.

Multi-State Legal Practice Experience:

Legal experience outside NC and SC may offer flexibility and adaptability to support broader firm initiatives.
