POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Home Office Claims (“DHOC”) is a member of IFG Companies’ Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”) and is responsible for assisting the Chief Claim Officer (“CCO”) in establishing, managing and maintaining the Company’s claim management best practices for all lines of business. In this regard, the DHOC will participate in the management of the Claim Department consistent with IFG Companies’ philosophy to efficiently process and, when appropriate, pay legitimate claims fairly and timely based on the facts and circumstances known to the Company at any given point in time. The DHOC reports to the

CCO. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING

Providing guidance on serious injury/damage losses to field office claims personnel as necessary to ensure that claim handling is timely and appropriate. Reviewing all policy limit demand submissions to ensure appropriate actions are taken, including reviewing draft correspondence for clarity and thoroughness. Reviewing submitted pre-trial notices and providing guidance where needed. Participating in and/or co-leading the bi-monthly Loss Review Committee meetings. Providing coverage guidance and assistance on field office coverage questions, including reviewing and drafting coverage correspondence for clarity and thoroughness. Participating in Home Office quality assurance reviews. Reviewing and approving all reserves and payments in excess of established field office authorities. Managing the resolution and, if appropriate, payment of claims within IFG Companies existing claim authority levels. Assisting in the management of reinsurance claim reporting processes and reinsurer claim audits. Evaluating field office operations workflow, claim systems and staffing. Coordinating with the General Counsel – Claims in managing claim litigation. Working closely with Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, Product Management and Underwriting and with members of Senior Management in coordinating exchanges of information between Claims and other departments. Directly managing the Home Office Claim Examiner and Legal Invoice Auditor(s) positions. Other duties, as required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent negotiation, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. Strong computer skills, including the ability to work effectively in the claims management system and strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g., Excel, Word, SharePoint). Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Ability to work well under pressure. Excellent attention to detail. Experience in, and committed to, keeping current with and effectively addressing changes in property and casualty insurance law, precedent and regulation. Proven team player with a positive attitude.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
Required:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college/university.

Required:

Minimum of 20 years of commercial property and casualty experience with a concentration on commercial general liability claims.

Required:

Experience in managing claim staff performance and development.

Preferred:
CPCU, AIC, SCLA, CCLA

Physical demands are considered to be that of a climate-controlled office environment with minimal physical exertion. Position is hybrid and requires the ability and the willingness to work in an IFG Companies’ Office at least three (3) days per week. Position requires prolonged sitting, extensive utilization of computers and interactions with others in person and via phone. Position requires the ability and the willingness to travel as required to meet business needs.
