OVERVIEW
The Mercer County Counsel’s Office seeks an experienced attorney to join its legal team. This position involves representing the County in state and federal civil litigation matters, providing legal advice to departments, and engaging in collective bargaining negotiations. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to the public good and shape the County’s legal framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent Mercer County in civil litigation matters, including Title 59 and civil rights cases. Provide legal counsel on labor and employment law issues. Participate in collective bargaining negotiations. Advise on matters involving the New Jersey Civil Service system. Draft legal documents, opinions, and correspondence. Collaborate with County departments to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in state and federal civil litigation, including Title 59, civil rights, and labor and employment law. Admitted to, and in good standing with, the New Jersey Bar. Experience in collective bargaining negotiations and working knowledge of New Jersey Civil Service system is preferred.

In-depth understanding of state and federal civil litigation procedures. Strong legal research and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Commitment to public service and adherence to ethical standards.
