Description:

Harris Beach Murtha seeks an energetic, knowledgeable, mid-level litigation associate to assist with all types of municipal litigation matters in a thriving and highly productive litigation practice.
The Litigation Associate will have the opportunity to:
Obtain significant state and federal trial experience in a team environment
Oversee a significant case load from inception
Meet and create contacts with New York State and Federal Court personnel
Actively participate in their career development and growth, practically and professionally
Argue before State and Federal Courts; Represent our clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings
Take and defend depositions
Be an active research team member to assist clients with various factual and legal issues
Collaborate with senior partners on case management and strategy
Draft legal documents, i.e. motions, pleadings, memoranda, discovery demands
Obtain experience factually researching business and corporate policies, and programs by examining records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations Applications are encouraged and desired if you have:
3+ years’ experience in litigation (required)
Admission to New York bar (required)
Must have Juris Doctorate degree with an ABA accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar
Exceptionally strong writing skills are required
Must have excellent verbal communication skills
Demonstrated high level organizational skills for prioritizing workload
Demonstrated ability to absorb, process and understand, new information rapidly
Must be able to manage competing priorities
Maintains high standards of performance
Exhibits conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility
Must have a professional, cooperative, positive and flexible attitude
Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization
Military experience welcome
