The programme explores constitutional foundations, institutional roles, public policy formulation, and practical law-making processes. Opportunity Overview We are seeking a New York-based legal trainer with deep knowledge of legislative processes to deliver our Law Making programme in person to an international group of public sector professionals. This is a freelance assignment ideal for someone with experience in law reform, public policy, or legislative counsel roles. Assignment Responsibilities
- Deliver a 5-day Law Making course in New York from 11-15 August 2025
- Teach modules such as: The legislative process and key stakeholders Turning policy into law Constitutional principles and institutional roles Consultation, drafting, scrutiny, and enactment Comparative law-making approaches
- Use real-world case studies and examples from the US and international contexts
- Facilitate interactive discussions and practical exercises
- Adapt content delivery to reflect delegates’ professional needs
- Collaborate with LCT’s operations team to ensure high-quality training delivery Ideal Collaborator Profile
- Based in or near New York City (essential)
- Qualified legal professional, legislative drafter, public policy expert, or academic
- Educated to degree level or higher, preferably in Law or Public Administration
- Holds a teaching or training qualification (e.g. PTTLS, TAP, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in legislative processes, law reform, or public policy
- Experienced delivering training or workshops for senior professionals
- Able to explain complex legal concepts in a clear, accessible, and engaging way
