This position is primarily responsible for prosecuting violent assault cases in summary court with a particular emphasis on domestic violence, including complex and high-profile matters. The ideal candidate will bring relevant litigation experience, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to victim advocacy and the pursuit of justice. This role involves all phases of prosecution, from case review and legal research to trial preparation and courtroom litigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
What You’ll Do:

Prosecute criminal cases.

Represent the State of South Carolina in trials, pleas, and other court proceedings.

Develop case strategies, conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and present evidence in court.

Interview victims, witnesses, and law enforcement personnel.

Evaluate cases and determine appropriate resolutions, including plea deals, diversion, or dismissal.

Supervise assigned personnel, providing direction, evaluation, and support.

Coordinate forensic testing and additional investigations as needed.
