Our Unemployment Insurance (UI) Integrity Deputy Director serves in the UI Division on the team which preserves the integrity of the program by handling claim compliance, fraud prevention and detection, field auditing, and collections. The UI Integrity Deputy Director manages the Compliance and Special Investigations unit, overseeing complex unemployment insurance investigations of potential UI benefit and tax fraud. They prepare referral reports for consideration for prosecution by the agency’s Office of General Counsel. In collaboration with UI leadership, assists in the development of strategies for effective collections processes and methods, and recommendations for process improvements to reduce fraud and to promote the integrity of the UI Trust Fund, with a special focus on employer registration and account maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate tax and collections disputes.
Assist in preparing and presenting DEW’s position in administrative appeal proceedings.
Recommend standard operating procedures and process improvements.
Liaise with other units to aggressively pursue delinquent employer accounts.
Review and determine course of action for complex investigations of fraud or abuse.
Interpret and clarify laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Manage human resource management activities for assigned personnel.
Serve as the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Integrity Deputy Director, managing the Compliance and Investigations unit.
Oversee complex investigations of potential UI benefit and tax fraud.
Process, research, and resolve employer disputes.
Assist in developing strategies for effective collections processes and methods.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Education and Experience
A high school diploma and at least eight years of increasingly responsible experience in insurance program administration, taxation, investigations, auditing, or related fields. Additional Requirements
An ideal candidate should possess knowledge of insurance principles, investigative techniques, and quasi-judicial procedures and rules of evidence. They should have the ability to create comprehensive reports, apply legal and administrative decisions, understand and interpret state and federal laws, and work effectively in a team environment. Position requires occasional travel and requires employee to work evenings and weekends as needed. Position approves leave and completes evaluations. Other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and at least four years of increasingly responsible experience in insurance program administration, taxation, investigations, auditing, or related fields. Additional Comments
