Solicitor’s Office Starting Salary DOQ Examples of Work Performed:
Under occasional supervision, the Victim’s Witness Advocate provides assistance to and coordinates support for victims and witnesses of crimes. They assist victims throughout the criminal justice process, keeps them informed of scheduled court dates, accompanies them to court and works with local agencies to ensure the protection of the legal rights of victims and witnesses in accordance with South Carolina Victim Bill of Rights. They perform other related tasks as required. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Victim’s Witness Advocates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong sense of empathy and compassion. They must complete an approved 15-hour basic core training within one year of their date of employment in order to become certified and must complete 12 hours of approved continuing education each calendar year to remain certified. Must have computer skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a bachelor’s degree; at least two years of experience in victim advocacy, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
