Job Description

Job Summary:

The Director of Litigation Support will oversee the firm’s Paralegals and serve as the primary resource to identify the correct litigation support vendor for any situation. Responsibilities include managing the firm’s Paralegal Managers; coordinating assignments, workflow, and firm initiatives; coordinating and/or providing training; and maintaining direct daily contact with attorneys and support staff. This position is also responsible for identifying and maintaining relationships with litigation support vendors/partners, negotiating contracts, creating vendor standards, and ensuring firm stakeholders are aware of preferred vendors. Additionally, the Director will track and enforce mandatory vendor relationships required by the firm’s insurance defense clients. Vendors include, but are not limited to: expert witnesses, court reporting firms, record retrieval firms, research databases, legal publications, legal AI providers, and trial support vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure the department is trained in all paralegal skills and support applications (including coordinating seminars and educational gatherings as needed, and ensuring MCLE requirements are met) Analyze and report on paralegals’ time to assess workload, productivity, and ability to meet ongoing firm needs Provide budgets, metrics, and other analytical information to support strategic decision-making Supervise all Paralegal Managers and serve as the point of escalation for performance management issues Serve as the primary point of contact with litigation support vendors Assist in negotiating contracts with vendors Maintain and coordinate the firm’s trial technology, including TrialPad Coordinate the distribution of Westlaw credentials for individual FMG offices Identify and maintain relationships with outside litigation resources Identify and implement software used to track vendor relationships Manage renewals of vendor contracts Prepare and develop reports and analytics as required by firm leadership Track subscriptions to various publications used by FMG attorneys and determine if they are duplicative of Westlaw Serve as the primary resource within the firm to identify the correct vendor for each situation Track and enforce preferred vendor relationships required by insurance clients Approve payment of vendor invoices in coordination with the Director of Legal Operations Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, or a related field (required) 2+ years of vendor management experience or similar experience interacting with litigation vendors (e.g., court reporters, document retrieval firms, legal AI firms) Basic understanding of insurance defense litigation 5-7 years of defense litigation paralegal experience and experience leading others Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Commitment to providing outstanding customer service Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines Strong attention to detail; identifies and corrects errors quickly and produces quality work products Ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment Adaptable to changing priorities and demands Proactive, self-motivated, and able to follow through with minimal direction Positive attitude and confidence Experience billing time in compliance with client guidelines and meeting monthly billing targets Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Westlaw, e-discovery applications, and
