Legal Administrative Assistant Job Description :
Ely, McCurry, & Hunter, LLC seeks an organized legal administrative assistant to support the firm’s insurance coverage litigation practice. This role will support the firm’s attorneys with litigation and pre-litigation tasks, such as acquiring and indexing files from clients or online databases, answering the phone, and maintaining an accurate calendar of all litigation deadlines. Additionally, this legal administrative assistant will provide administrative support to firm management tasks. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and technological proficiency are essential to this role. Paralegal or other legal administrative experience preferred but not required.
Job Requirements :
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Solid data entry skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with document review processes and legal terminology.
- Organize documents within case files.
- Receive documents from multiple sources and convert them into easily viewable materials within the file.
- Maintain calendars and reminders for litigation deadlines.
- Schedule appointments for depositions, mediations, and other litigation events.
- Assist with document production.
- Draft standard pleadings such as subpoenas, notices of appearance, notices of discovery, etc.
- Proofread documents before sending them externally.
- Filing documents with the courts, including providing courtesy copies where needed
- Send and receive correspondence on behalf of attorneys.
- Review medical records or depositions transcripts to identify certain material within the documents, as requested by attorneys.
- Send and receive mail.
- Is a Notary Public or is willing to obtain same.
- Greet visitors by phone or in-person with a courteous, professional demeanor.
- Maintains confidentiality of client information.
- Background check required.
