for an experienced bankruptcy and foreclosure litigation paralegal.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will support the Plaintiff-oriented mortgage foreclosure litigation and Creditor bankruptcy law practice. We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude and ability to maintain a consistently high standard of service to the firm’s corporate clients. Must work well under pressure and be able to multi-task and set priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Required experience related to Plaintiff-oriented mortgage foreclosure litigation and Creditor bankruptcy practice : Draft routine legal documents for attorney’s review, e.g., Notices of Hearing; Amended Complaint packages; Motions; Final Judgments and trial packages; Discovery requests and responses; Subpoenas, and documents related to judicial sales. Familiarity with the formatting requirements of appellate pleadings and drafting indexes for appellate briefs is a plus. Ability to pull and understand court dockets, coordinate and schedule court hearings, mediations, and depositions. Must have experience filing documents through the e-portal for both trial and appellate matters. Thorough understanding of the bankruptcy courts’ scheduling and ECF requirements statewide. Ability to draft Motions for Relief from Automatic Stay and related Orders, as well as creditors’ Proof of Claims utilizing financial information provided by the firm’s clients. Understanding of when the automatic stay does and does not apply, ability to review Chapter 13 Plan provisions concerning the treatment of secured claims.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Paralegal must be proficient with all scheduling procedures utilized by both, Florida clerks of courts and Judges in the state and federal courts. Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office is a must, including MSWord, Outlook and Excel. Knowledge of CaseAware file management system is strongly preferred. Expertise in the use of use of client data management systems, including LPS, is required. Exemplary organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong client service skills are required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for this position, as you will have direct contact on a daily basis with court officials and the firm’s clients.
