Salary:
Competitive Currently seeking an experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join a fast growing firm in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. The firm focuses primarily on real estate, small business, estate planning, commercial litigation and intellectual property. The ideal candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills; be self-motivated and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Experience should include civil and commercial litigation regarding contracts, trademarks, business dealings. Applicant should be comfortable drafting motions, pleadings and orders, as well as court calendaring/scheduling, using Westlaw, Clio and Dropbox. Applicant should have a strong attention to detail and work effectively in a team environment. Must be comfortable working in an office setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Prepare and analyze documents from by clients, parties, and non-parties Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.) Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests Gather relevant information from a variety of sources Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties Provide assistance with case settlements
Qualifications:
5+ years of law firm experience in litigation, trademark and/or small business Familiarity with filing court documents in person and via the e-portal Proven working experience as a Litigation Paralegal Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc. Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail Extensive computer and database expertise Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification Typing speed 55+ wpm Bilingual a plus
