This role is essential in supporting attorneys and clients in the preparation and submission of Medicaid applications, as well as guiding clients through the long-term care planning process. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, compassionate, and comfortable working with elderly clients and their families.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and submit Medicaid applications for long-term care benefits. Collect and analyze financial documentation, including bank statements, retirement accounts, insurance policies, deeds, and tax returns. Track deadlines and follow up with clients and government agencies to ensure timely submission and approval of Medicaid applications. Communicate with clients, family members, and caseworkers to provide updates and gather required information. Assist attorneys with Medicaid planning strategies and asset protection. Draft and file legal documents, correspondence, and reports related to Medicaid and estate planning matters. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files, both physical and digital. Stay current with state and federal Medicaid rules and regulations. Work collaboratively with attorneys, intake staff, and other team members to ensure a high standard of client service.

Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably with Medicaid or elder law experience. Strong knowledge of Medicaid eligibility requirements and application process. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office, case management software, and document management systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information with professionalism. Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with senior clients and families in emotionally sensitive situations. Familiarity with estate planning documents, guardianship, and probate matters.
