Intake/Pre-litigation Paralegal The Clark Firm, P.A. Bradenton, FL 34202 • Hybrid work
Job Description:
W. Lee Clark & Associates is seeking an Intake/Pre-litigation Paralegal eager to grow, learn, and take on responsibility. We are a small, elite personal injury firm committed to innovation, excellence, and client satisfaction. Because we are small, you can participate in a variety of cases and activities, create and nurture relationships with clients, and collaborate with lawyers in evaluating potential cases and driving outcomes. You will be managing cases in both potential client intakes and pre-litigation. Your primary responsibilities will be in client contact and information marshaling. That means you will be responsible, primarily, for getting to know our clients (current and new), empathizing with them, and being there to help them. Our clients are all either seriously injured or have had a loved one die. If relating to people like that does not sound like something you want to do (it is not for everyone), you can stop reading here. This is not the job for you. Your responsibilities will also include helping clients (and us) gather the necessary materials to evaluate and win their cases, such as medical records, photos, insurance information, and names and contact information for witnesses. You will also be responsible for working with third parties to gather additional information to help us evaluate the client’s case, including making public records requests, direct-to-provider medical records requests, third-party document, and multimedia requests, etc. Finally, you will be responsible for saving all the information we receive in our system and ensuring that our electronic file system remains complete, organized, and up to date. These responsibilities are the foundation of all the work we do. Information is power. The more we have, the better results we can get for the clients who trust us with their cases. Over time, this position will grow and be flexible. You will get to do a little bit of everything that we do. You will have the opportunity to be involved in our most interesting cases. You will be allowed to take on new and different responsibilities if you show aptitude. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking on new challenges and is willing to go the extra mile to find the best way to make something happen. We are looking for somebody who wants to grow in the legal field and be a part of our team long-term. We are looking for somebody who has an eye for detail (from reviewing medical records to catching typos in legal documents). We are looking for someone proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Suite. We also want somebody who is an expert at internet and social media stalking. Seriously. And bonus points if you are a notary (if you are not, please consider becoming one). So that is what we want. Here is what we do not want. We do not want somebody who just follows instructions. We do not want somebody who is satisfied doing things because “that’s the way we’ve always done it.” We do not want somebody who is satisfied by doing the bare minimum. And we do not want someone who is going to be afraid to offer ideas or suggestions. The timid need not apply. However, if you have read this far and believe you can bring value to our firm, please send us your resume and a cover letter. In your cover letter, please explain what makes you a good fit for this position and where you see yourself in five years. Additionally, please include a random number 8 in your cover letter somewhere and identify our typo (so we know you have read all of this and possess the diligence we are looking for). We look forward to meeting you and talking about how you fit in with what we are doing. A final note about the work – our work is high-pressure. We are not. However, we are entrusting this position with some of the most significant responsibilities within our law firm. We do not give this responsibility lightly. But the other side of that is also true, the successful applicant for this position will be treated as though their work is the backbone of what this law firm does because it is. To demonstrate this, we offer unprecedented flexibility, autonomy, and opportunities for those who excel at what they do. We are in no hurry to hire, but we will decide very quickly once we find the right person.
Compensation:
This position starts at $15.00 per hour during a 90-day probation period.
