1415090_1745939917 Job Summary A boutique law firm located in Miami’s Dadeland area seeks a Legal Assistant to join their team. This is a direct-hire/perm role and it is fully on-site. Must have at least 3+ years of defense litigation experience. Duties include but not limited to: Initial set-up of case in Client Profiles (CP). Case opened in CP by the billing department- case name & number, billing contact. LA (Elli) inputs all other information available- adjuster, claim number, case style, opposing counsel, court reporter assignment and all initial deadlines. Trial team LA File all pleadings in federal and state court. For federal court matters, LA files: o Notice of appearance for all attorneys on the trial team. o First e-filing on a matter to prepare the notice and properly set up the e-filing requirements for the members of the trial team. o Answer plaintiff’s complaint and notice of appearance for attorneys on the trial team and add them to the list of individuals to receive notices from the Court for all filings. o Same process for a newly assigned attorney.

Responsible for scheduling and filing/serving:

o Hearings, depositions, IMEs, appointments, etc. and confirming documentation, including notices, correspondence and/or subpoenas. Advise trial team via email. Confirm hearings/depositions/mediations/appointments with opposing counsel, the Court and/or mediator. E-mail confirming/canceling any hearing, deposition, appointment, etc. and note in CP the reason for cancellation. Incoming mail. Name all scanned incoming mail in CP. Trial Orders should be initialed and dates noted on the scanned copy. Schedule plaintiff’s deposition and updated deposition. Schedule crew members conference calls. Prepare a confirmation letter with payment to IME physician. Prepare all notices for taking deposition, for hearing and subpoenas. Diary all trial order deadlines. Provide copies of trial order with indicated deadline dates to paralegals. Schedule pre-trial preparation meeting with trial team both 75 and 30 days before the beginning of the trial docket. Schedule exchange of exhibits with OC. Notify paralegal of scheduled exhibit exchange. Provide Office Services with pleading folders to commence indexing of the pleadings in preparation for trial (15 days prior to trial) Reserve court reporter for trial; update court reporter as needed.
