Litigation Legal Assistant Uriarte Law, PA 730 NW 107th Avenue, Miami, FL 33172 Litigation Legal Assistant Job Description Objective The Legal Assistant / Paralegal plays a crucial role in the smooth progression of cases, requiring a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team. Upholding the highest levels of professionalism and maintaining confidentiality are key aspects of this role. It is a position that demands commitment and dedication to achieving positive outcomes for clients from the initiation of the case until its conclusion. Responsibilities/Duties Ø Draft a “Litigation Welcome Letter” for the Client at the start of litigation. Ø Send the Client a “Litigation Welcome Letter” at the start of litigation. Ø Draft and file the following

Motions:

Motion for Clerk’s Default as required; Motion for Judicial Default as required; Motion for Final Default Judgment; Motion to Compel Response to Complaint; Motion to compel discovery if responses are insufficient or not received. Ø Request clarification from an attorney on third-party subpoenas as to whether there will be an objection or request for copies. Ø Ensure that trial orders are followed and full compliance is maintained, including filing any required witness, exhibit, and expert lists. Ø Maintain the calendar for each attorney, schedule hearings, motions, etc. Ø Draft and Send Mediation Correspondence to Opposing Counsel. Ø Draft and Send Answer and Affirmative Defense Response to Opposing Counsel. Ø Draft and Send Requests for Discovery Responses / Better Discovery Responses to Opposing Counsel. Ø Draft and file trial briefs and other necessary pre-trial documents. Ø Manage communication with clients throughout the trial to inform them of the case status. Ø Maintain case files and documentation, ensuring all the required materials are accounted for and organized. Ø Provide clients with deposition preparation materials to ensure they are well-prepared for their depositions. Ø Draft and File a Motion for Enforcement of Settlement to enforce a settlement agreement the opposing party does not honor. Ø Draft and File the General / Standard Motion in Limine to request that certain evidence be deemed inadmissible and not referenced or introduced at trial. Ø Handle case-related expenses, ensuring they are budgeted and tracked appropriately. Ø Contact all clients monthly with status updates. Ø Follow all instructions when filing or drafting additional requests from the assigned attorney or the Litigation Manager. Ø Maintain updated Outlook calendars for the legal team to ensure that all case-related events and deadlines are accurately tracked. Ø Complete and provide all goal and metric sheets to the Litigation Manager to ensure all welcome letters, client correspondence, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation goals are met for the month. Ø Other duties as assigned. Requirements Ø A degree or certification in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field. Ø Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, focusing on case management and pre-trial activities. Ø Profound understanding of legal procedures, terminology, and documentation practices. Ø Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ø Proficiency in legal software, case management systems, and Microsoft Outlook. Ø Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, court personnel, and healthcare providers. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
