Full Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Elder Care Paralegal to join our Florida-based elder law practice. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting attorneys in matters related to Medicaid planning, guardianships, estate planning, probate, and long-term care coordination. A strong understanding of Florida elder law and a client-first mindset are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents related to: Medicaid applications and asset protection planning Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives Guardianship petitions and annual accountings Probate pleadings and estate administration Conduct legal and financial research on elder care matters, including benefits eligibility and Florida-specific statutes Coordinate with clients, healthcare providers, and government agencies (such as AHCA and DCF) to obtain and organize necessary documentation Manage case files, track deadlines, and maintain accurate client records in legal software Support attorneys in client meetings, including note-taking and follow-up Communicate empathetically with elderly clients and their families, often during emotionally sensitive situations
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in elder law, estate planning, or probate Strong knowledge of Florida Medicaid rules and guardianship procedures preferred Proficiency in legal research and document drafting High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal practice management software
