Our project offers special assistance to individuals who serve as caregivers to seniors and grandparents or relative caregivers raising minor child(ren) residing in the home with the senior. Job Summary The Elder Law Project Paralegal will support the legal team by performing delegated legal tasks, handling intake and client communication, preparing legal documents, managing case data, and conducting legal research. This role serves clients in the areas of guardianship, estate planning, Medicaid, probate, consumer, housing, and public benefits. The position is highly client-facing and includes outreach, education, and administrative duties. The paralegal will also assist in coordinating consultations and referrals, both in-person and via Zoom. Supervision and performance review will be conducted by the supervising attorney. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conducts intake for estate planning, Medicaid, and probate clients. Responds to initial inquiries, screens potential clients, and schedules consultations. Provides client support with guardianship, housing, consumer, probate, wills, advance directives, and public benefits (Medicaid (including QITs), Social Security, and Medicare). Drafts pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents under attorney supervision. Prepares files, organizes discovery, trial folders, and coordinates hearings. Files legal documents via the Florida E-Filing Portal. Manages and updates case data in Legal Server. Maintains client communication and tracks appointments and follow-ups. Coordinates and confirms Zoom consultations and calls for attorneys. Prepares outreach materials; assists in presentations and community workshops. Attends outreach events and maintains professional relationships with local service providers. Tracks and reports monthly performance metrics (e.g., intakes, workshops, consultations). Maintains confidentiality and adheres to Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County policies and ethical standards. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Legal Studies, or related field required. Paralegal certification or equivalent legal experience (may be substituted on a year-for-year basis). Familiarity with elder law, housing law, consumer law, public benefits, probate, and estate planning. Strong working knowledge of legal software and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Westlaw/Lexis, and electronic court filing systems. Excellent drafting, legal research, and case management skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple cases efficiently. Professional demeanor, discretion, and sound judgment. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Commitment to serving low-income and underserved communities. Must pass a Level 2 background screening and internal conflict check.
SALARY:
Salary range depending on experience. Full benefits package in addition to salary includes: Vacation leave earnings equal 2.4 weeks a year (beginning the first of the month after 30 days of employment) and increases to 3 weeks a year after two years of employment. Sick leave earnings equal 2.4 weeks a year (beginning the first of the month after 30 days of employment). 13-15 paid holidays per year (depending on court schedule). Health, dental and vision insurance (beginning first of the month after 30 days of employment). Employer paid short-term disability/long-term disability and life insurance (beginning first of the month after 30 days of employment). Employer matches up to 3% of 401K plan contribution (eligible after one year of service). Salary paid bi-weekly by direct deposit. Mileage and reimbursements processed weekly.
