Our growing client is a law firm in beautiful St. Petersburg, FL, seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dedicated team. This role is ideal for a proactive and organized paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about contributing to successful defense strategies. You will play a crucial role in supporting their attorneys in all phases of litigation, from inception through trial.
Key Responsibilities:
Litigation Support:
Assist attorneys with all aspects of civil defense litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
Case Management:
Efficiently manage and organize case files, ensuring all relevant information, medical records, and evidence are meticulously maintained and easily accessible.
Discovery Coordination:
Order, review, and summarize medical records, billing statements, and other discovery documents. Assist with propounding and responding to written discovery.
Trial Preparation:
Prepare trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. Coordinate with expert witnesses and assist with deposition preparation.
Legal Research:
Conduct thorough legal research using tools like LexisNexis to support case development, identify relevant case law, and analyze statutes and regulations related to personal injury civil defense.
Client & Witness Communication:
Maintain professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and expert witnesses. Schedule depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
E-Filing:
Handle electronic filing of documents with state and federal courts, adhering to all procedural rules and deadlines.
Administrative Support:
Assist with calendaring, docketing deadlines, processing attorney time summaries, and other administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth case progression.
Qualifications:
Experience in Paralegal experience in a civil defense law firm, with a strong focus on personal injury cases. Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field, or completion of an accredited paralegal certification program (NALA certification preferred). In-depth knowledge of Florida civil procedure, court rules, and legal terminology specific to personal injury defense. Proficiency in legal research software and case management systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to draft clear, concise, and accurate legal documents. Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. High degree of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct in handling confidential information.
