Legal Assistant Position Available In Pinellas, Florida

Prestigious law firm located in St. Petersburg, FL is in search of a Legal Assistant with General Liability Defense experience. This is an on-site opportunity.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide litigation support for attorneys handling general liability cases involving bodily injury, premises liability, negligent security, and related matters
• Prepare affidavits or documents, such as legal correspondence, and organize and maintain records in paper or electronic filing system.
• Prepare filings and assist attorneys with state and federal court procedures, including e-filing through Florida’s e-Portal
• Prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits.
• Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements.
• Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of the case.
• File pleadings with the court clerk.
• Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, and documents.
• Coordinate meetings, hearings, depositions, and other case-related events
• Call upon witnesses to testify at the hearing.
• Investigate facts and law of cases and search relevant sources, such as public records, to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.
• Direct and coordinate law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas.
• Keep and monitor legal volumes to ensure that the law library is up-to-date.

Requirements:

• 2-3 years minimum experience as a legal assistant
• Strong understanding of Florida and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
• Prior exposure to general liability defense work is preferred
• Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), Adobe Acrobat
• Typing speed of 50-70 wpm
• Demonstrated ability to work under strict deadlines
• Ability to manage and reprioritize work daily
• Must be able to work effectively in a busy team-oriented environment as well as independently
• Experience in Federal Courts a plus
