Phelps Dunbar LLP is an AmLaw 200 full-service law firm. Phelps Dunbar LLP is offering an opportunity for a Business/Estate Planning Paralegal in the Tupelo office. The ideal candidate will be able to work closely with our Business attorneys to support a broad range of Estate Planning transactions and projects. They will be a proactive, detailed-oriented, team player with the ability to work well independently and maintain a high level of attention to all detail and timeliness of deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with preparation of trusts, probates, property and business transitions, conservatorships, etc.
Draft, prepare, collect,anize and/or file estate planning, trust administration, real estate title documents, deeds, memoranda of trust, forms, records, etc.
Obtain documents and records from clients and state and local agencies.
Review financial information received from client; audit documents to correct errors; draft estate tax analysis.
Prepare final estate planning letter which includes copies of executed estate planning documents and rmendations for various asset transfers related to trust funding strategy, including investment accounts, real estate, life insurance and retirement assets.
Be familiar with all aspects of estate, trusts and real estate law.
Review revocable and irrevocable trusts, LLC operating agreements, and corporate bylaws.
Proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Facilitate the meeting of attorney deadlines by keepinganized schedules and providing timely reminders.
Interact professionally with and assist clients in-person, via phone and/or by virtual means.
Record billable time daily meeting daily billable requirements; review and edit bill proformas monthly.
Multi-task and prioritize work assignments to consistently provide high-quality work product within stated deadlines.
Requirements
Education and Experience Required:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. A four-year college degree and/or a certificate in paralegal studies is preferred. Significant prior experience may be substituted for abination of the educational requirements.
A minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience in the Business/Corporate area is preferred.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Must have a high level ofputer literacy including proficiency in MS Office Software Suite (including Excel and PDF documents) and a working knowledge of a document management system.
Ability to utilize current technology is required. Experience using electronic resources and support software is strongly preferred.
Strong oral and writtenmunications skills and proofreading skills.
Excellent time management,anizational abilities, attention to detail and strong proofreading skills are also required.
