Flat RatedThis position is time-limited, grant funded, part-time, 20 hours per week.

Funding for this position will end on June 30, 2025, with funding expected to continue through June 30, 2026.The Office of the District Attorney, Prosecutorial District 12, seeks a qualified candidate to provide legal support services to the prosecutors in the Harnett County office. Duties include but are not limited to the following: answer phones; assist the public; type correspondence; prepare legal documents; prepare files; assist victims and witnesses understand and prepare for court; gather information to assist in the prosecution of cases; and other duties as assigned. North Carolina’s longest-operating Veterans Treatment Court is seeking a legal assistant to help serve our justice-involved veteran community. This position is housed in the District Attorney’s Office and operates as a liaison between the District Attorney and the Veterans Treatment Court team. Responsibilities include tracking VTC applicants and progress of participants.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Knowledge of:

court system and procedures; legal terminology; and community resources to refer victims and witnesses.

Skill in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; accurately typing 35-40 wpm; and answering a multi-line telephone system.

Ability to: interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services; coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the victim and witness program; manage the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed; communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies and the general public; and calmly handle stressful situations.
