This is a limited duration (project based) position with an anticipated duration of six months with potentially extension. The position is remote (work from home) with required onsite training for 2-4 weeks in Charlotte, NC.

Qualifications:

3-5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a law firm Knowledge of insurance claims and claims systems preferred Paralegal certificate preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Knowledge of Westlaw and Pacer is a plus Insurance experience is a plus Detail oriented mindset and ability to work in fast paced environment

Responsibilities:

Receipt and review of time-sensitive service of process documents, including service relating to commercial litigation, coverage and bankruptcy matters to determine: The type of legal document (i.e. – summons and complaint, subpoena, garnishment, tender of claim, notice of claim, demand letters, civil remedy notices, legal correspondence); Whether the document relates to a claim, a coverage dispute, a non-coverage litigation/dispute or a non-litigation issue; The relevant information in the document that will be needed to determine how to route the document, which could include, among other things: the name of the insured and/or claimant; date of loss; policy and/or claim number; the type of insurance and/or claim at issue (i.e. – workers’ compensation, property, environmental, financial lines etc); Determining the proper business unit/personnel to whom each piece of service of process should be routed; Logging and tracking each piece of service of process received in an online litigation tracking system; Ability to work independently, to exercise sound judgment, and to get along well with others What we are offering: Pay rate: $26-$30 per hour commensurate with experience on a W-2 basis

Schedule:
