$40.6K – $52.1K a year 9 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Mid-level High school diploma or GED Litigation Bachelor’s degree Legal administrative experience Grammar Experience Communication skills Editing Full Job Description Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Practice Assistant to join its Charlotte, NC office. This full-time position provides administrative support to attorneys on our Litigation team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

Managing time entry and assisting with the billing process, including editing pre-bills and preparing invoices Creating, editing and proofing documents and other correspondence per attorney direction, using MS Word and Excel and other specialized software Submitting conflicts checks for new clients and/or matters and originating new files Managing firm’s files through the use of appropriate software Filing legal documents, (including e-filing) Coordinating meetings, travel arrangements, securing conference rooms and ordering refreshments as necessary Assisting with discovery including document production, etc. Answering telephones, recording messages; assisting callers and/or redirecting calls as needed Maintaining electronic calendars for the assigned attorneys.

Docket management:

Opening and closing cases, entering and updating case information in docketing systems, managing calendars, and communicating with relevant parties. Regular and in-person attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this interactive position.

Qualifications & Experience:

High school diploma or the equivalent required; 4 year degree preferred, with at least 3 – 5 years of business litigation experience. Must be able to handle deadlines and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required with the ability and willingness to learn specialized software as needed The ability to proof documents for punctuation, grammatical and spelling errors and to perform simple arithmetic calculations on timesheets or other documents. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills as well.

Physical Requirements:

The work is primarily sedentary. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights. The position may occasionally require more than the regular 37.5 hours per week to accomplish essential duties. We offer a competitive salary and benefits.
