We are looking for a talented Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys within our litigation practice group. This role is 100% onsite 5 days per week 8:30-5.
Job Duties:
Support attorneys by managing technology and identifying efficient task completion methods. Create, format, edit, and proofread legal documents, including Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and forms for filings. Format briefs, pleadings, correspondences, and other legal documents. Prepare document shells for motions, discovery, and trial documents. Prepare notebooks, exhibits, and other assigned documentation. File legal documents with state and federal courts using e-filing systems. Prepare and edit construction-related contracts, including AIA and custom agreements. Perform administrative tasks such as conflict checks, matter opening/closing, expense reports, time entry, and travel arrangements. Organize, update, and maintain paper and electronic client files and pleading indexes. Manage attorney calendars, emails, scheduling, and deadlines using Outlook. Organize client contacts and support business development needs. Coordinate and schedule meetings, calls, and depositions. Maintain regular attendance and be available for overtime as needed.
Ideal Background:
Experience providing secretarial support in a law firm environment. Experience working on construction legal matters. Experience supporting litigations Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and PDF software. Familiarity with document management systems like Worksite/Filesite. Solid understanding of legal practices, terminology, documents, and court procedures. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adopt a solutions-oriented approach. Excellent typing, spelling, grammar, proofreading, and clerical skills. Ability to coordinate activities, prepare legal correspondence, and manage files/records. Proficiency in operating standard office equipment (computer, copier, scanner, phone). Experience with e-filing in state and federal courts. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
