Intake Paralegal Legal Services of New Jersey, an Edison-based non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to low-income New Jerseyans, has an opening for an experienced Intake Paralegal to support our statewide legal Hotline. Callers to Legal Services of New Jersey’s Hotline are low-income individuals and families who face eviction, foreclosure, threats of domestic violence, have been sued by creditors or face a variety of other civil legal problems. Callers can access our Hotline, which provides legal information, advice, and referral in civil legal cases. This service is provided at no charge but applicants must be financially eligible to qualify. All callers are screened for financial eligibility prior to receiving services. The position involves handling sensitive matter and requires professionalism, attention to detail, and explicit recognition of the scope of attorney-client confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and excellent interpersonal and computer skills. Bilingual in both English and Spanish are highly preferred. Bi-Lingual Paralegal – Social Security Disability Legal Services of New Jersey, an Edison-based non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to low-income New Jerseyans, has an opening for an experienced Paralegal/Case Manager to work with attorneys and other Social Security Disability project staff. The strongest candidate will have previous experience representing claimants in
SSI/SSDI
cases, people who may be coping with a variety of physical and psychological impairments, and with representation of low-income people generally. Requires a highly organized person with previous paralegal experience including: client intake and screening for relevant information for disability claims, preparation and filing of forms, appeals, and supporting documentation, drafting legal correspondence and case summaries, and providing administrative and legal support throughout the disability claims process. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and excellent interpersonal and computer skills. Bilingual in both English and Spanish are highly preferred. Administrative Assistant – Bi-Lingual Legal Services of New Jersey, a non-profit that provides free civil legal assistance to low-income New Jerseyans, has an immediate opening for an experienced bi-lingual administrative assistant to work with multiple attorneys and paralegals. Here’s what you’ll do! Assist attorneys with tasks like contacting clients, document gathering, and case file management.
Manage client appointments, reschedule as needed, and ensure clear communication through emails and calls.
Prepare and send client mail, respond to client inquiries (both email and mail), and manage attorney mail flow.
Maintain a streamlined scheduling system, send out in/out notifications. Previous administrative experience, Spanish fluency, a working knowledge of Outlook and excellent communications and organizational skills are required. Legal experience is a plus.
