Legal Assistant – North Charleston, SC Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire | $17.99/hour We are a recruiting and staffing agency supporting a South Carolina state department in their search for a Legal Assistant. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity located in North Charleston, SC.
Position Overview:
The Legal Assistant will provide key administrative and legal support to attorneys within a busy Family Court setting. While the role involves some paralegal responsibilities, the primary focus will be front desk coverage, answering phones, greeting visitors, and making daily court runs to file and collect documents. Mileage for court-related travel is reimbursed.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys with legal services related to child protection, foster care, adoption, adult protection, and child day care cases Prepare and organize case files, pleadings, orders, notices, and other legal documents using the Legal Case Management System (LCMS) Maintain accurate case data including service verification and court outcomes Coordinate and distribute dockets, proposed orders, and treatment plans File legal documents with the Clerk of Court and serve them as required Attend court hearings to assist with case flow and record testimony, evidence, and rulings Collect and verify witness statements, reports, and exhibits Research legal issues and prepare supporting documents as needed Serve as a liaison between attorneys, court officials, and agency staff
Schedule & Compensation:
Monday through Friday, 36-37 hours per week between 8:30am-5:00pm $17.99/hour Temp-to-hire opportunity
Qualifications:
