Family Law Paralegal Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct client interviews and maintain detailed client files
- Type and file legal documents such as complaints, motions, and declarations
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness lists
- Perform legal research and gather pertinent case law and statutes
- Draft correspondence and communicate with clients regarding case updates
- Coordinate mediation sessions and legal appointments
- Manage case deadlines and maintain the attorney’s calendar
- Gather and analyze evidence for use in family law cases
- Provide administrative support such as copying, filing, and data entry
- Assist in the formulation of legal strategies and case analysis
- Handle confidential information with discretion Family Law Paralegal Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field
- Certification from an accredited paralegal program
- Previous experience in family law or similar legal field
- Strong knowledge of family law procedures and documentation
- Experience with legal research databases and software
