This role involves supporting attorneys in all phases of medical malpractice litigation, including case preparation, discovery, and trial. Key Responsibilities:
Case Preparation:
Assist attorneys in preparing for all stages of litigation, including drafting legal documents, organizing files, and conducting legal research
Discovery:
Manage the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, and summarizing medical records and depositions
Medical Records:
organize, review, draft summaries and chronologies,
Trial Preparation:
Prepare exhibits, organize trial materials, and assist with witness preparation
Client Communication:
Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of case developments and addressing their questions and concerns with compassion
Medical Record Management:
Obtain and organize medical records, create chronologies, and summarize medical information
Expert Coordination:
Coordinate with medical experts, healthcare providers, and opposing counsel
Case Management:
Manage case calendars and deadlines to ensure timely progression of matters
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on medical malpractice litigation and/or personal injury Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures in South Carolina Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in personal injury/medical malpractice Past experience in the medical field preferred Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with emphasis on client relations Proficiency in legal research, document preparation, and case management software Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Location & Work Environment:
New office opening on Johns Island in 2026 with hybrid remote/office schedule. Candidates residing on Johns Island, James Island, or nearby areas are strongly preferred due to proximity.
