Schedule:

36 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 AM and 5:00

PM Pay:

$17.99 per hour (firm) Some light local travel to the courthouse required (mileage reimbursed) Our recruiting and staffing agency is assisting a state government department in finding a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with legal or administrative experience who is looking to gain hands-on experience in family law while supporting attorneys in critical child and adult protection work.

Position Overview:

Under limited supervision, the Paralegal supports attorneys in a county office by preparing legal documents, organizing case files, and assisting with Family Court proceedings related to child protection, foster care, adoption, child day care, and adult protective services.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare pleadings, orders, motions, notices, and other legal documents using the Legal Case Management System (LCMS) Organize and maintain legal files and data within LCMS, ensuring accuracy of party names, addresses, and hearing outcomes Coordinate and prepare cases for Family Court, including service verification and docket preparation File and circulate legal documents through the Clerk of Court Attend hearings and trials, take notes on testimony, evidence, and court rulings, and assist in managing the courtroom process Assemble witness statements, reports, and documents for attorney use Conduct legal research and draft briefs, discovery requests, and motions Serve as a liaison between the attorney, agency staff, law enforcement, and the Family Court system Occasionally drive to the courthouse for document drop-off or collection (mileage is reimbursed)

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and at least one year of experience supporting an attorney or working in a legal office A college degree may substitute for part or all of the required work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
