Job Responsibilities An adjunct faculty’s teaching is an integral part of MTC’s learning community. In keeping with its mission and vision, MTC actively engages part-time adjunct faculty experts in their disciplines who have a passion for teaching. Adjunct faculty will perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities within the Paralegal Studies Program in-person at our Airport Campus in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of MTC. Adjunct faculty members deliver curriculum, provide instruction, design syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet the established course description and learning outcomes while addressing the needs of our diverse learners. Adjunct faculty members must meet all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades, and data collection. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning and will model professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Courses, and by extension the instructor, are under the purview of MTC’s School of Education and Public Service and the supervision of the appropriate Dean and Program Director. The instructor is expected to comply with all MTC policies and procedures. Courses must comply with ABA guidelines for the approval of paralegal education programs and must meet the required student learning outcomes, along with assessment and evaluation of those outcomes and instructional effectiveness. Midlands Technical College is dedicated to providing excellent service to its students, employees, and the community. This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus. Minimum and Additional Requirements Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Paralegal Studies. Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in the field of Law. Attorneys must be in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. Paralegals must possess a South Carolina Paralegal Certification and be in good standing. Experience working as a paralegal or supervising paralegals is required. Commitment to quality teaching. Preferred Qualifications Juris doctorate from an ABA-approved law school and admission to the South Carolina Bar, experience teaching in a higher education setting, and experience using online learning management systems (such as D2L) is strongly preferred.
