$44.2K – $56K a year 10 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Qualifications Mid-level Microsoft Office High school diploma or GED Litigation iManage Medical billing Law office 2 years Communication skills Full Job Description Legal Administrative Assistant, Columbia, SC Office The Legal Administrative Assistant is an integral member of the team responsible for administrative tasks necessary for assisting the attorneys and paralegals to provide exceptional legal service to our clients. This is a full-time, in-office position, with benefits, in our Columbia, SC office. The position provides support to 6 attorneys and two paralegals.

Responsibilities:

Draft and format legal documents including pleadings and discovery. Electronically file legal documents with State and Federal Courts, and to a lesser extent, in AAA Arbitration. Manage calendars, including court dates, depositions, client reporting, pleading and discovery deadlines, site inspections, and scheduling court reporters as needed. This position is responsible for ensuring calendar items are entered, updated, or removed in as timely a manner as possible. Prepare routine correspondence to include email service of pleadings and written discovery. Make certain insurance reporting requirements are followed for each matter. Manage time entry and edits relating to billing procedures. Create new file opening documents. Manage payment of third-party invoices related to case files, including follow-up as needed. Open, process, and route incoming office mail to attorneys and paralegals. Handle monthly attorney expense reports for e-filing costs, firm required travel, and other firm related expenses. Work with attorneys and paralegals as needed on specific projects.

Qualifications:

2-3 years of prior law firm experience required. Knowledge of insurance defense litigation preferred. Experience with insurance billing requirements a plus. Strong understanding of legal terminology and litigation procedures. Familiarity with e-filing systems (state and federal). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Familiar with Microsoft suite, iManage, Outlook & LawBase preferred, but not required. Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Must be a team player.
