Job Description
Family Law Legal Assistant Collins Family & Elder Law Group Columbia, SC Our busy family law firm is looking for an efficient, organized legal assistant to help our attorneys and paralegals assist clients and ensure we’re operating efficiently. You’ll assist with the preparation of legal documents, and handle all office correspondence, including answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. Compensation:
$15 – $25 hourly
DOE Responsibilities:
Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents Keep all client files organized and up to date Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines Be willing to take on any other necessary administrative tasks to help the firm run smoothly Schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, make travel arrangements, and coordinate with outside vendors for events Complete legal research as needed under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals Help with creating a variety of litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when necessary
Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills Candidates should have excellent customer service skills Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary Able to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment Candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute Some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required Candidates should have strong communication skills How Do I Apply?
