Friday Work Hours:

10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Position devoted to managing the City’s parking facilities, parking enforcement activities, customer service, facility and equipment maintenance, and security. Employee will be responsible for enforcing the City’s parking ordinances by patrolling and issuing parking citations and providing directions and assistance to customers. Employee will perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions. There is an established and specified routine to be followed and decision-making is limited with minimal consequence on overall operations. The employee will be responsible for issuing parking citations in on-street parking areas, controlled residential parking areas, and in City parking facilities such as parking lots and garages; responding to customer complaints and service requests from City residents and the public; inventorying supplies and advising supervisor when levels are low; and monitoring and reviewing the parking enforcement database for trends and route information purposes. Duties/Responsibilities Issues parking citations in on-street parking areas, controlled residential parking areas, and in City parking facilities such as parking lots and garages; opens and closes gates to direct traffic flow; and patrols assigned areas to identify illegally parked vehicles. Performs customer service duties to include responding to customer complaints and service requests from City residents and the public, and assisting patrons attending events or entering assigned facilities; sells vouchers; processes payments; and issues parking permits. Monitors supply inventories; tracks supply usage and reports supply and material unavailability to supervisors. Runs routine reports and submits to higher level staff; updates and maintains databases and records; counts vouchers and cash; reviews work for accuracy and completeness. Minimum Qualifications & Experience High school or equivalency (GED, HiSet, TASC) One year of related customer service experience. Valid NC Class C Driver’s License. This position is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event. Additional Preferred Skills Basic computer skills Knowledge of parking management software. Excellent communications skills (orally/written). Ability to complete forms and write incident reports.
