Duties and Responsibilities Note:
The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below. Performs routine scheduled inspections of contractual and non-contractual County services, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, agreements, contracts, departmental regulations and safety requirements. Reviews the performance of contractual and non-contractual County services and reports deficiencies or non-compliance to supervisor, and as directed re-inspects to verify completion of remedial or corrective action. Identifies, orders and stocks supplies, materials and inventory required to facilitate contractual and non-contractual County services. May oversee the work of contracted and non-contracted workers. May perform inspection duties during times of extreme weather supporting emergency needs of the County and general public. Performs other related duties as required. Job Specifications Knowledge of inspection methods and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to read and interpret government contracts. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to serve and represent department and the County with courtesy and professionalism. Physical Requirements Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Ability to work outside in a subtropical climate in adverse weather conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel or crouch in confined spaces. Work Category Sedentary work
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Minimum Qualifications Required Completion of 9 th grade education; AND Two years of experience in the inspection and coordination of contractual and non-contractual services; AND Possession a valid Florida Driver’s License. Emergency Management Responsibilities In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
