Probation Officer Mobile Community Corrections 111 Canal Street, Mobile, AL 36603 Job Summary The Probation Officer plays a crucial role in the criminal justice system, responsible for supervising individuals placed on probation. This position involves monitoring compliance with probation conditions, providing support and guidance to offenders, and collaborating with various stakeholders to facilitate rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to community safety, and the ability to manage crises effectively. Responsibilities Supervise a caseload of probationers, ensuring compliance with court-ordered conditions. Conduct regular meetings and home visits to assess the progress of individuals on probation. Develop individualized case management plans that address specific needs and challenges. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavioral changes. Prepare detailed reports documenting interactions, progress, and any violations of probation terms. Collaborate with law enforcement, social services, and community organizations to provide comprehensive support. Respond to crises by employing effective crisis management strategies. Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with legal and organizational standards. Experience Candidates must be APOST certified . This is a law enforcement position and candidates must be certified law enforcement in the state of Alabama. Candidates should have a background in law enforcement or social work, with experience in case management preferred. Skills in interviewing and report writing are essential for success in this role. Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques is highly desirable. A strong understanding of the criminal justice system and its processes will enhance effectiveness as a Probation Officer.
