THE POSITION

The State Correctional Institution at Phoenix, under the Department of Corrections, is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and enthusiastic Corrections Records Specialist to become a vital part of our team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Records Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to work within the Records Office, where you will ensure the accuracy and currency of the DC-15 master files. This involves a thorough analysis of court documents to create or amend sentence structures and calculations, as well as reviewing designated time periods for commitment credit to verify their legality and applicability. You will also be tasked with updating sentence calculations in response to modifications made by the court or the Pennsylvania Probation and Parole Board, while maintaining and reviewing inmate criminal histories. Additionally, conducting individual interviews with inmates for various purposes and liaising with different criminal justice agencies regarding inmate matters will be essential components of your role. Furthermore, the Corrections Records Specialist will meticulously examine inmate cases within their caseload prior to release, ensuring that all legal requirements are met and that the release occurs in a timely manner. This position also includes the registration and fingerprinting of sex offenders in compliance with Megan’s Law, as well as the fingerprinting of parole violators. The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate advanced typing abilities, exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure while adhering to deadlines. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Records Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of clerical or correctional custodial experience including one year in a correctional facility; or An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of clerical or correctional custodial experience in a correctional facility.

Other Requirements:
